Meryl Wenig represents clients with perseverance and epitomizes the dedication Wenig Saltiel LLP provides to their craft. As a landlord/tenant and real estate attorney, her ability to understand and “own” her clients concerns, make her well known throughout New York City and beyond as a “no nonsense straight-shooting” litigator who creatively and diligently advocates for her clients where others have been unsuccessful. Ms. Wenig often attracts new clients in court after they witness her passionate representation.
A review of the forty published and unpublished opinions in which she has been counsel, demonstrates her extensive knowledge of all areas of landlord/tenant and real estate law. She is the rare attorney that is not only comfortable, but has achieved a recognized mastery, in all courts in New York that hear cases in her areas of practice, from Housing Court to the Court Of Appeals.
Meryl Wenig has often testified before Federal and State Courts as an expert on landlord tenant issues and is well respected by her peers for her detailed trial skills and handling of cutting edge cases. She has successfully brought numerous Article 78 proceedings to prevent judges from exceeding their authority and legislating from the bench and for the enforcement of statutory rights. Many of these cases have led to landmark decisions which have enhanced litigants' rights.
Having served as Chairperson of the Kings County Housing Court Bar Association Appeals Committee for the past several years, she is a sought-after lecturer for continuing legal education seminars as well as various real estate organizations.
